Dr. Hulbert taught Bible courses at Columbia Biblical Seminary (of Columbia International University) for almost 40 years (1972-2010). Honored as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in 2005, he retired from the classroom in 2010.
Dr. Hulbert served in various administrative roles at CIU, including Academic Dean of the Graduate School (1972-1988), Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (1988-1994) and Interim President (1990-1991).
Prior to his tenure at CIU, Dr. Hulbert taught Greek at Northwestern College in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1951-1957). From 1957-1962 he taught at the rural Chizera Bible School in the Northwestern Province in Zambia and led in the establishing of the urban Bible College of Central Africa in Ndola (1964-1969).
From 1966-1969, Dr. Hulbert served as the inaugural Chairman of The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and as Chairman of the southern region of The Association of Evangelical Bible Colleges of Africa and Madagascar.
In addition to conducting church growth workshops in Burundi, Central Africa Republic, the Ivory Coast, Mali, Sierra Leone and South Africa, he lectured in Germany and Australia. He also taught courses with Campus Crusade and ACSI (The Association of Christian Schools International) in the United States.
His publications include World Missions Today, a lectureship, Discipling Leaders with a Vision for the WOrld and the interactive CD, Walking in Their Sandals. For his courses, Dr. Hulbert created interactive DCs including “Exploring Jesus’ World,” The Gospel of John, “The Upper Room Discourse” and “Israel in the Times of Gentiles.”
Terry and his wife Jean Hulbert have one daughter.
Dr. Hulbert passed away on February 22, 2014.
