Dr. Roy King serves Christ by encouraging and assisting Christ followers, and especially ministry leaders, in being vibrant and effective. He is a leadership coach and consults with churches and mission organizations who are going through transition.
Dr. King joined the faculty of CIU’s Seminary and School of Ministry in 1997 and taught Pastoral Theology until 2003; he then served as director of Alumni Ministries until 2012 when he rejoined the Seminary & School of Ministry faculty; taught Ministry Studies from 2012 through 2016. Before coming to Columbia, he served as a youth pastor, associate staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, director of the Ben Lippen Conference Center, assistant director of the Billy Graham Training Center, and pastor of two congregations in North Carolina. He is an ordained minister in the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
In his spare time King enjoys racquetball, hiking and auto repair. He and his wife, Pandora, have two grown children: Mary, an elementary teacher is married to David Rumsey, and Mark is a musician and church starting businessman and married to Jelayne. Each of his children have beautiful granddaughters who “Papa” spoils without apology.
