Dr. Edward Albert “Al” McCallister taught philosophy, theology and Bible at Columbia International University for thirty two years. He chaired the CIU Humanities Department and directed European educational tours for students and adults. He enjoyed the challenge of teaching the historical and theological backgrounds of Europe and saw several of his students return to minister there. During his time at CIU, Al earned an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of South Carolina and also a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Georgia. He also held a B.A. from The King’s College in New York City, an M.A. in Divinity from Faith Seminary in Philadelphia, and an M.A. in Theology from Eastern Baptist Seminary. Over the years, Al pastored churches in Newfield, Pleasantville and Cape May, New Jersey; Aiken, Ridgeway and Longtown, South Carolina, and four times at Faith Presbyterian Church in Irmo, South Carolina. Intrigued by the sea, Al served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 15 years patrolling the waters of Lake Murray, South Carolina. In retirement, Al studied prophesy and the revelation of eternity in the Bible. Al married his wife Della in 1957. He died in 2016.
